Battlemaster BLR-1G (P) Devastator Build

Battlemaster 1G (Phoenix Hero Variant) Pubstomper Guide

MWO Battlemaster 1G Sniper Brawler Build Guide

Project Phoenix has arrived, and people have already come up with decent builds for Shadowhawks and Locusts. However, good Battlemaster builds are much harder to come by. The build presented here is a big mile stone in the development of the Battlemaster. It has everything you need: Long range high pinpoint damage, close quarter punch, and above average survivability. Two AC/5s and a single PPC provide excellent sniping and fire support capabilities. Six (6!) Medium Lasers allow you to dish out insane damage at close range. You can also continue to fire your double AC/5s while brawling. Finally, the Battlemaster is an Assault Mech and this build utilises a standard engine making it very durable. Let’s take a look at the build.

There are a few minor adjustments possible, depending on your preferred play style. For example, if you are more comfortable having all sniper weapons on your arms for increased precision, you can swap the PPC to your right arm and move the Medium Laser to the torso. While this is more comfortable, it is also less effective. Sniping around corners becomes more difficult and you will lose more important weapons when using your right arm as a shield arm. Addition of AMS is also possible, just remove any of the Medium Lasers, AC/5 ammo, or DHS to free up the tonnage. However, do not remove armor from your head. The cockpit is really easy to hit at the moment and you need every point of armor on it.

MWO Battlemaster Sniper Build Playstyle and Hints

  • PPCs have a minimum range of 90ms. Do not fire them beyond that range ever. You will overheat and die miserably.
  • In high heat situations stop firing your PPCs immediately. You will always do more damage, if you do not overheat and use your AC/5s exclusively.
  • AC/5s reload much faster than PPCs. Try working in at least one additional AC/5s salvo in between PPC recycle times when engaged at longer ranges.
  • Use your right arm as a shield. One of your most vulnerable spots is you center torso. Try to protect it at all times.
  • The Battlermaster’s upper torso twisting angle is very crappy. Keep this in mind when crossing through open spaces. Try to back up against a wall when engaged in close quarters.
  • If you are playing in an organised group it is highly recommended allocating almost every point of armor in the front. If you are playing random games without a group, 10-25 rear armor are probably the better choice.
  • Weapon grouping advice: 1) PPC and both AC/5s 2) All Medium Lasers 3) Both AC/5s only
  • For modules use Cool Shot 9 by 9, Advanced Sensor Range, and Advanced Seismic Sensor. You can play around with the Advanced Zoom Module in exchange for the Advanced Seismic Sensor.

Project Phoenix Mechs vs Standard Variants Art Leaked

Project Phoenix Mech Models and Textures Revealed

Over at Google+, some crafty community members found what seems like the Project Phoenix Mechs geometries. The four Project Phoenix Hero Mechs will have unique geometry and textures, as well, as a bonus to c-bills earned and loyalty points (which probably have something to do with the community warfare, but no details are known, yet). It remains to be seen if these textures are official, but at the moment, there is no evidence to indicate otherwise.

Also notice the small icons on the textures. Some of the say the corresponding Project Phoenix package name. If you are still unsure wether to buy the Project Phoenix package or not, check out this comprehensive MC calculation. You might also click through some of the links at the bottom of this post.

MWO Project Phoenix – MC Comparison – Is it worth it?

MWO Project Phoenix

MWO Project Phoenix Mechs

What is MWO Project Phoenix?

Project Phoenix is a special offer for our beloved F2P game, Mechwarrior Online. The bundle includes Hero Mechs, regular variants, Mech bay slots for all of those, special cockpit items, a ton of premium time and a special forum avatar (similar to the current founders’ avatars).

What will it cost?

MWO Project Phoenix comes in 4 different sizes:

  • Talon – Tier 1 – 20$
  • Storm – Tier 2 – 40$
  • Guardian – Tier 3 – 60$
  • Overlord – Tier 4 – 80$

Is that actually worth to get Project Phoenix?

tl/dr: Project Phoenix’s game content is worth more than equivalent stuff bought with regular mc. If you get the Overlord (80$) package, the value is more than double.

Total MC equivalent of all packages and their value:

  1. Talon ~6,100Mechwarrior Credits: 122% value
  2. Storm ~14,625Mechwarrior Credits: 146% value
  3. Guardian ~28,000Mechwarrior Credits: 186% value
  4. Overlord ~46,275Mechwarrior Credits: 231% value

From a purely economical perspective, it is very worthwhile to get one of the packages, the bigger the better. One possible downside is, that you probably don´t want to spend mc on chassis you could regularly get for just a bunch of c-bills. On the other hand, you will get multiple things which you can only get for mc and some only in this package: the Hero Phoenix Mechs will no longer be available at some point. The forum avatar is something to show off your dedication to Mechwarrior. Right here, click to view if you are looking to start playing games as a whole new hobby at home or even early morning commute, it is important that you choose a casino match your gaming needs.

The above calculation was based on the following assumptions:

  • Unique Phoenix Variants cost the same as current Hero Mechs.
  • Regular Variants are average values based on current prices.
  • Premium time is valued as if purchased in the most economical way possible.
  • Medallions and Mech Bay slots prices according to the current cost in the game.
  • You preorder before July 25th in order to receive +30 days premium time.
